Ashby Woulds

Ashby Woulds Parish Plan Steering Group, supported by the Rural Community Council of Leicestershire and Rutland, has completed a draft Action Plan of what YOU would like to see in Ashby Woulds. This draft
Action Plan is now circulated to Service Providers to respond to in the future. The Action Plan has already been supported by Ashby Woulds Town Council. Following the Town Council’s response we will publish and share it with EVERYONE IN THE ASHBY WOULDS AREA at a Public Meeting with the Service Providers to be held on the 16th September. This will be the start of putting your ideas into Action. The main issues you thought were important include:

• Fostering community spirit and good communication with everyone.
• A new Village Hall in Albert Village. (A group of volunteers who came forward as a result of the questionnaire have already started as a committee with Officers to start on this project).
• Set up new Neighbourhood Watch groups and make sure that Police presence is more regular.
• Increase security at car parks and trouble spots.
• Increase activities for young people and adult interaction with young people, particularly with sports groups.
• Resolve speeding issues, (possible traffic calming) and set up a Community Speedwatch Scheme.
• Provide more facilities in leisure and recreation areas, including new facilities and more accessible footpaths.
• Manage street lighting better.
• Improve Community transport.
• Review Environmental Policy and Actions.

The full Action Plan will be serialised in detail in future editions of the Ashby Woulds Community Newsletter.
