Lash Hill Farm, Burbage

Lash Hill Farm Community Group have now completed their Action Plan, which was presented to memebers of the community at an Open Meeting on 12th Sepetember 2011. Well done to the group for all their hard work!

Newbold Verdon

Newbold Verdon’s Walking Group – WalkNewboldhas seen a number of successes lately. The group have published six short walks, detailing information on wildlife, local history and points of interest. Even a few local businesses are listed so walkers can pick up a few groceries or stop for a drink on the way. The project has been supported by funding from Newbold Verdon Parish Council and three of the leaflets are now available in colour. The leaflets have proved very popular and will soon be available in seven libraries within the area, in addition to the Leicestershire villages website.

The walking group is also setting up a ‘Walking for Health’ scheme in conjunction with Desford and Barlestone villages. Walking for Health is a national initiative encouraging people to become physically active in their local community. Several members of the Newbold group have undergone training to support this project, which hopes to begin walks in November.
