Col Sir Andrew Martin Annual Memorial Cricket Competition 2011

There was an entry of 15 Teams this year. With the lack of rain the Teams were able to play their matches on time and the Final was held in August rather than September.

In the Semi-final matches, Cropston played Enderby and Barkby were at Home to Huncote. This brought the losing finalists from 2010 Barkby against the losing finalists of 2009 Cropston together for the 2011 final.

The Final was played at Cropston where everyone was made very welcome.
This was attended by Col Robert Martin, the Sponsor Lorraine Lee of McDonalds Hinckley, Dale Mortimer and Jean Lee of the RCC.

Cropston lost the toss, and were asked to bat first by Barkby. Their openers, Tilley (24) and Glennon (45) gave Cropston a good start; 14 year old Alex Kent went in at number three and scored 55. They went on to make 190 for 7 in their 25 allotted overs. Barkby off-Spin bowler Matt Jordan took 4wickets for 34 and Seamer Ken Eales 2-36.

Barkby never got over a poor start to their Innings and were all out in the 20th over for 95. Ian Kirk hitting 37. Off Spinner Daniel Hickinbottom took 3 wickets and there were two apiece for brothers Shallom and Ethan Hawkins.

Cropston were presented with the Winners Cheque for £150 and Barkby the Runners up Cheque of £75 together with the Col Sir Andrew Martin Team Trophies. There were individual trophies for the players. The Umpires Mel Smith and Steve Horner both received an inscribed Memento. The Man of the Match was Daniel Hickinbottom.

Presentations were carried out by Col Robert Martin. Vice President of the RCC, whose father the competition was named after and the sponsor Lorraine Lee. They were introduced by Dale Mortimer, trustee of the RCC.
