60 members of the parish came to the Community Centre for the launch of Sileby Parish Plan on Tuesday 28th April.
Following a questionnaire returned by hundreds of households in Sileby, a walkabout, and public exhibitions, an Action Plan on how to turn these ideas into reality has been produced. A Village Design Statement is also being produced to be adopted by the Planning Authorities. The Rural Community Council supported the Steering Group throughout the process and will continue to support outcomes.
Dozens of volunteers have come forward through the questionnaire to help take forward actions. These include the production of a Parish Walks Leaflet, the setting up of a History and Heritage Group, a Community Speedwatch Group, volunteers to manage the Website, and volunteers put in touch with local Youth Organisations, and the Neighbourhood Watch. A new Environment Group is to be set up and CCTV has also been installed at various points throughout the parish.
The Parish Plan group is continuing to meet to follow up issues and anyone is welcome to join the group. Please contact the Chairman Gordon Fergus gord@organicafood.co.uk
