Thurnby Memorial Hall
Registered Charity: 226387
Thurnby Memorial Hall was erected in 1926 in memory of soldiers from the village killed in the First World War. Every villager at the time contributed - the main benefactor being Charles Bennion (who gave Bradgate Park to the people of Leicester). It is brick built - the large Main Hall has a wooden raftered ceiling and a stage. Behind this is the fair-sized Back Room which leads on to the kitchen. The British Legion Room was added in 1981 and is used mainly for committee meetings - this is at the side of the Main Hall. The building benefits from an equipped kitchen (with crockery/cultery) and toilets including a disabled toilet. Upstairs is another fair sized room and there are plenty of tables and chairs throughout.
