The Green Day event organised by VVIT in March 2011

Vale Villages in Transition (VVIT) is a local Transition initiative, focused on the Vale of Belvoir area in Melton district. it is one of many groups forming part of a growing international movement that came into being to address the twin challenges of peak oil and climate change.

Past activities

  • The group organised a showing of the film "Power of Community" on Weds 16th November at Croxton Kerrial village hall. View poster.
  • VVIT held a well-attended Apple Pressing day on Saturday 5th November, from 1pm to 4pm at Crossroads Farm Shop. The event featured apple pressing and tasting, local food and activities for children. Download the poster here.
  • In March 2011, the group organised a well-attended Green Day event at Bottesford Village Hall, featuring a wide range of local stallholders. Download the case study here. The event was funded by a Climate Friendly Communities grant.
  • In February 2011, VVIT showed the film "The Power of Community" to an interested local audience, with an introduction by local Permaculture expert Hannah Thorogood.
  • In 2010, VVIT organised several showings of the short film "The Story of Stuff".
  • In Autumn 2009, VVIT organised a series of six talks by locally based environmental experts.
