Transition Rutland

Set up out of the recognition that challenges facing rural areas are best met with a positive vision for the future which emphasises resilience across economic, environmental and social strands. It combines two separate Transition initiatives: Transition Towns and Transition Farming.

Transition Rutland has been supported by Communities Cutting Carbon and Rutland County Council.

Activities

  • The group's AGM took place on Saturday 23rd July 2011, and a new steering group for the coming year was elected. For details of future meetings and activities, contact the group by email.
  • In early 2011, Transition Rutland organised the successful On Your Bike project to promote cycling in Oakham, using funds secured from a Climate Friendly Communities grant.
  • The group has held information stalls at Rutland Day in 2010 and 2011, and an energy efficiency event at Uppingham Town Hall in Spring 2011.
