Oadby

Launch meeting for the project in Oadby.
Oadby Community Stakeholders worked with the Communities Cutting Carbon project to develop projects to cut Oadby’s carbon footprint.
Activities
- Members of the group worked with Blaby district council to look into future options for renewable energy at Brocks Hill Environment Centre, including bringing the site's wind turbine back into use.
- In October 2011, a well-attended group visit to Brocks Hill Environment Centre was organised, with support from Communities Cutting Carbon. View photos of the event here.
- Local volunteer William Pugsley organised four awareness-raising stalls about environmental issus on the Parade in Oadby. The stalls took place on the 2nd Saturday of each month from August to November 2011. To find out more or get involved, contact William by email.
- In September 2011, local volunteer Shabaana Kidy organised an educational workshop on climate change and food security in the global South. See the photos page below for some pictures of the event, and a presentation (below) given by Andrew Reeves from Communities Cutting Carbon.
- To date, three public meetings have taken place including a launch meeting in April 2011 attended by over 40 local people. As a result of the initial meetings, seven local residents have arranged for solar electric panels to be installed on their homes.
