Parishes in Blaby District

Kirby Muxloe

The residents of the Kirby Muxloe are being offered the exciting opportunity to finally tell service providers such as the District and County Council, Primary Care Trust and The Leicestershire Constabulary what they want for their own village, through a Parish Plan. The plan will involve consulting with the entire community to ascertain individual views on issues such as transport, the environment, housing, young people and leisure facilities. As the plan is led by the community, it can include anything that is important to the local residents. The Rural Community Council (Leicestershire and Rutland) are assisting with the plan.

The Parish Plan will result in an action plan which will detail issues the people of Kirby Muxloe are concerned with, what the timescale is to complete each action point, which organisations shall be involved and where potential sources of funding are known. An open meeting was held at the Kirby Muxloe Village Hall on Friday 6 June and a group of residents put their names down to help with this process.

If you would like to join the Kirby Muxloe Parish Plan group or attend thier next meeting please contact Charlotte Burt at the Rural Community Council, on 0116 268 9708 for more details.

Stoney Stanton

The group are analysing the results from the adult and youth questionnaires. The creation of an action plan will follow.

Glenfield Parish Council Offices where the Parish Plan group meets

The inaugural meeting of the Glenfield Parish Plan Group was held at Park House on Monday 9 June 2008. The group of local volunteers, supported by the Rural Community Council, is to compile a plan for the future development of Glenfield. Residents are to be consulted on a wide range of topics including local transport, local facilities, traffic, services and behaviour.

The next meeting of the group is on the 24th September 2008 at Park House and any resident of Glenfield interested in this project is invited to attend. Further information can be obtained from Charlotte Burt of the Rural Community Council on Leicester 2689708.

Thurlaston

The results from the questionnaire have now been analysed and a draft action plan produced. The steering group chose to focus on traffic, transport and young people. It is likely a report will be produced and an open event organised to give people the opportunity to see what needs addressing and how.
