Frequently Asked Questions

What are the Leicestershire and Rutland Rural Awards?

Held annually for the past three years the Leicestershire and Rutland Rural Awards aim to raise awareness of the issues faced by rural communities and recognise the amazing people, groups and businesses taking action to tackle these issues and improve life for people living and working in rural areas of Leicestershire and Rutland.

Who and what is eligible for an award?

We want our awards to celebrate all aspects of rural communities in Leicestershire and Rutland. As long as they are clearly linked with rural Leicestershire or Rutland there are no restrictions on who or what you can nominate.

What are the awards categories for 2020?

The Leicestershire and Rutland Rural Awards include seven categories, showcasing the best people, places, facilities, activities, businesses, charities and groups across the whole of Leicestershire and Rutland.

Details of all our categories can be found by clicking here.

Can I nominate my own organisation?

Yes anyone can make a nomination into our awards and in fact the vast majority of entries we received are self-nominations.

I’m thinking of nominating but not sure whether we/it/they are worthy of an award?

The simple answer is you/they/it are definitely worthy of a Rural Award.

We run our awards to celebrate and promote people and organisations at grass roots level in rural communities that would not normally get recognition through more traditional awards programmes.

One of the biggest challenges we face is that most of the people and organisations we look to celebrate do not undertake the fantastic work they do for recognition or to receive an award, they do it because they care and are passionate about their local community.

How do I make a nomination?

We make our nomination process as easy and quick as possible.

You can make a nomination online by clicking here or you can download an offline nomination form and return it to us via e-mail.

If need any help making a nomination or require a nomination form in a different format you can contact us via awards@ruralcc.org.uk or 01455 856330.

Is there a cost?

It is completely free to make a nomination for the awards.

If you decide to join us to find out the winners and runners up at our annual awards dinner, tickets can be purchased for just £48 per person when they come on sale in July 2020.

When is the deadline for nominations?

All nominations for the 2020 Rural Awards should be received by 30th April 2020.

Can I make more than one nomination or enter multiple categories?

Yes you can make as many nominations as you wish.

You can also enter each nomination into as many categories as you want.

I am not sure which category to enter?

If you are unsure which categories are the right fit for your nomination you can contact us on awards@ruralcc.org.uk or 01455 856330.

During shortlisting we may move your nomination(s) between categories if we think it is a better fit. We will let you know if this happens.

When and where do we find out the winners?

The winners and runners up of our 2020 Rural Awards will be announced at our annual Awards Dinner to be held from 7pm on 8th October 2020 at Winstanley House in Leicester.

Tickets for the dinner will cost just £48 per person and will come on sale in July 2020.
